Most new dads are not in the placement Ed Sheeran was in when his daughter was born. The singer was coming off the massively profitable tour in support of his 2017 Divide album, which ran 260 displays and set planet documents for tour grosses with more than $776 million in receipts. With that type of results, Sheeran explained to SiriusXM Hits 1 in a modern job interview that he considered contacting it a working day and just remaining a stay-at-house father.
But the moment Sheeran and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed daughter Lyra in September 2020 and they experienced some time at home with her, he pretty immediately experienced second feelings. He remembered standing on the stage in Ipswich on the past night time of the tour in late August 2019 and wondering, “I am 28 and, like, I do not know what to do now. I have variety of, like, chased and chased and chased and chased and got to this factor and then in my 12 months off I was variety of looking for, like, who I was.”
He stopped enjoying songs for a bit, and in spite of acknowledging that new music is “entirely” who he is as a person, when Lyra was born he explained he understood, “Appropriate, that is it … this is me I am just gonna be a father. I’m not gonna play audio any more.” As you could imagine, this adjust of heart made him “really sad” mainly because, other than putting time and energy into being a father, he felt like he experienced no intent.
